How-to: Connect a SMIL client to the Oxygen media platform

Oxygen media platform supports SMIL by W3C to facilitate development of Players. Deliver quickly and flexibly with standards-based development APIs. For more resources about SMIL, visit www.a-smil.org.

This how-to will guide you through the process of connecting a A-SMIL Compatible Device with the Oxygen media platform. Here we are using the XDS-101 from IAdea.


1. Put a keyboard one to the XDS

2. Press the “Delete (Del)” key while the system boots up

3. Press „Ctrl-Alt-Del“ to access the XDS main menu

4. Choose the network connection (wireless or cable)

4.1. Configure the network configuration (DHCP or static IP)

5. Open http://login.oxygennext.com on your desktop computer an log in with your login data

6. Create new station, set Stationtype to Smil

7. Get the smil player url from the admin tab of the station and configure it as the smil source of your smil device
